Development: An AFC Study of Australian and International Funding and Practice in the Feature Film Industry

In 1999, the AFC and FFC produced a review of the state of the Australian screen production industry entitled Report on the Film and Television Production Industry (November 1999) below. This 'state of the industry' report identified a problem in the resourcing of development as a key issue and recommended that a study be undertaken to establish benchmarks for the funding and practice of development in Australia. That study is the subject of this report. |

This report was prepared jointly by the AFC and the FFC, in response to a request by the Minister for the Arts and the Centenary of Federation, the Hon. Peter McGauran MP, on 13 September 1999. The central aim of this report is to investigate the state of the industry, and to assist the Government in developing policy responses where necessary. |
