THE NUGGET is a gentle morality tale about three road workers who stumble upon the world's biggest nugget and become instant millionaires - or so they think. The road workers are mates from way back, and each weekend they go out to an old gold mining site hoping to strike it rich. Each weekend they come back with nothing but a hangover. But then everything changes when they discover the world's biggest nugget - worth many millions of dollars. THE NUGGET looks at how instant wealth suddenly changes the lives of these working class men - not necessarily for the better, but always with hilarious consequences.

Bill Bennett is one of Australia's most acclaimed filmmakers, winning the 1997 Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Film, and Best Director for Kiss or Kill. He has made nine feature films, had two films in Official Selection at Cannes, and has won the Crystal Globe for Best Film at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

Jennifer Bennett worked extensively in theatre, television and film as an actor before producing the 1997 noir thriller Kiss or Kill, which won five Australian Film Institute Awards including Best Film. Since then, Jennifer has produced and co-written In a Savage Land, a film nominated for seven Australian Film Institute Awards; Cut, a horror movie starring Molly Ringwald; and Tempted, a film noir shot in New Orleans starring Burt Reynolds.
