Most audiovisual content, whether made locally or overseas, must be classified by the Classification Board of the Classification Board and Classification Review Board (formerly the Office of Film and Literature Classification) before it can be sold, hired or shown publicly in Australia. The data do not necessarily reflect the numbers of titles released, but rather show titles submitted for classification.
