Value of
royalty trade in cinema release, 1991/92–2005/06
Since 1991/92, imports for cinema release have
tended to remain around $70–90 million, except for a couple of
peaks in 1997/98 ($135 million) and 1999/00 ($146 million).
Export royalty earnings from Australian films
released overseas have ranged between less than $1 million in 2001/02
and $39 million in 2002/03. Broad overseas release of several Australian
films, including The Crocodile Hunter: Collision
Course, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Charlotte
Gray and Lantana, possibly contributed
to the slightly higher result in 2002/03.
